Hearing the word Ringworm

The first time people hear the words “you have ringworm” they immediately recoil, panic and automatically think they have some sort of worm bug and yet this could not be further from the truth, because ringworm is a simple form of skin infection caused by fungi and one that is treatable.
Ringworm is very common in young children but people of all ages can be affected by ringworm and can also affect all parts of the body and can easily be spread by contact from one person to another or even by using the same towel as someone who has become infected so if you or any family member do contract the infection then make sure that whilst infected that person has their own towels to dry themselves with.
Not only humans contract this condition it is also very common in animals especially domestic pets which is normally where humans have come into contact with it and therefore you should avoid petting animals on any bald spots they may have and if it is a domestic pet that you think has the condition then they will need to be treated by a veterinarian in order that they may clear up the condition and avoid more infection.
So next time you have a patch of dry skin which appears to be in a circle then do not panic, visit your doctors and most of the time the doctor can give you cream to apply to the affected area which will easily clear up the infection, obviously the longer it is left untreated then it may be a little more difficult to eradicate it, it would also be an idea if you have pets to have them checked out as well in order to stop the spread of the infection once and for all.
