There are many forms of ringworm as it can appear anywhere on the body but probably one of the worst places to have it is in fact in the scalp which is also known as hair ringworm. The problem with this form of skin condition is that it is more likely to affect children between the ages of 4 to 14 which are when they are more likely to interact and have close contact with each which can help the spread of this condition.
In the scalp this skin condition can cause a lot of problems not least of all that it can cause hair loss, something that many children can be embarrassed about, they can end up with small bald patches around the affected area which can then be seen as red becoming crusty in appearance and really does need the help of a doctor to eliminate all traces of the condition and to make sure that it is prevented from coming back.
Sharing a hair brush or comb can help spread this infectious skin condition whilst bedding and public headrests can also result in the contracting of ringworm so if you or your child has had or has this condition then you need to thoroughly clean any bedding and throw away any hair tools that have been used by the infected person.
One thing to bear in mind is the fact that although some people may have contracted ringworm not all people will show the symptoms of having it so it is really important that if any member of the family contracts the condition then all members of the family should be treated by the doctor as a precaution of the condition spreading throughout the entire family and whilst the person being treated should definitely use their own towel and hair tools so should all the family whilst the threat of infection is there.
